Cheryl A. Stewart is a Los Angeles family law attorney with more than a decade of experience litigating high-conflict custody disputes, domestic violence matters, and complex post-judgment proceedings. Her practice focuses on strategic case development, sophisticated discovery, and persuasive motion practice in matters involving heightened conflict, sensitive personal dynamics, and significant financial or reputational stakes. She has represented clients in a wide range of cases, including matters involving high-net-worth individuals and situations requiring discretion, precision, and careful long-term planning.
Ms. Stewart graduated with honors from Chapman University, earning dual degrees in Philosophy and Legal Studies. She completed her master’s degree at the University of Southern California, where she was awarded a National Science Foundation Fellowship for the Sustainable Cities Program and served as a teaching assistant for a law and public policy course. She later earned her J.D. from Southwestern Law School, where she worked as a research assistant on practical lawyering and legal writing coursework.
Admitted to the State Bar of California in 2012, Ms. Stewart has practiced family law almost exclusively since that time. Over the course of her career, she has handled a broad range of contested family law matters, including custody and visitation disputes, relocation matters, domestic violence restraining orders, jurisdictional challenges, post-judgment modification proceedings, discovery disputes, and support and attorney-fee related requests for order. Her experience includes litigating matters involving complex evidentiary issues, contested hearings, and high-conflict dynamics requiring careful preparation and strategic execution.
Ms. Stewart is known for her meticulous written advocacy, analytical approach, and ability to manage fast-moving litigation under pressure. She regularly drafts and argues motions, prepares detailed declarations and legal memoranda, conducts extensive discovery and document analysis, and works closely with clients and experts to develop effective litigation strategies. She brings structure and clarity to cases with evolving facts and emotionally charged circumstances, while maintaining a steady and professional presence throughout the litigation process.
