Steven Matossian was born and raised in Pasadena, California. He obtained his law degree from Southwestern Law School. During law school, Mr. Matossian clerked for the Honorable Judge Harvey A. Silberman of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. There, Mr. Matossian was immersed in California family law, and learned the ins and outs of the courtroom process. This experience cemented his desire to focus exclusively in the area of family law.

Prior to law school, Mr. Matossian served six years in the Marine Corps, including one tour to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. After being honorably discharged from the Marines as a sergeant, Mr. Matossian was hired as a deputy sheriff for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in 2006. There, Mr. Matossian had the opportunity to work in a variety of assignments, including patrol, court services, special problems unit, and youth programs.
