Tigran Palyan is a founding partner at Storm Palyan LLP. Leadership in the Legal Community
Mr. Palyan is one of the youngest attorneys ever to be appointed as a member of the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) Family Law Section. He served as Chair of the Trial Readiness Clinics Committee, established by LACBA to help self-represented litigants prepare for trial in their family law proceeding. He also served as Vice Chair of Section Membership, Outreach, and Development Committee. Mr. Palyan is often asked to present at various speaking engagements designed to help law students excel put on by various professional organizations and local law schools. He is a frequent lecturer and presenter on Continuing Legal Education (CLE) panels through Los Angeles County. Mr. Palyan was also appointed as Legislative Liaison for the executive committee of the California State Bar Family Law Section. In 2021, he was appointed to Los Angeles County Bar Association's Delegation to California Conference of Bar Associations (CCBA), and LACBA's Access to Justice Committee. Mr. Palyan also serves on the Board of the Armenian Bar Association, for which he started a partnership with the Los Angeles County Bar's Domestic Violence Project, to offer assistance to domestic violence victims in need of a restraining order.
Honors and Recognition
Mr. Palyan is a graduate of the prestigious National Family Trial Institute, a vigorous and intense training program taught by the nation's leading experts, attorneys, and judges. Mr. Palyan has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyers “Rising Star” for 2014 - 2022. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding attorneys from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations. Only 2.5% of lawyers in the state are named to the Rising Stars list every year. Mr. Palyan has received public recognition for his community contributions from Los Angeles County Supervisor, Michael D. Antonovich, and a certificate of recognition from U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Adam Schiff. In 2022, Mr. Palyan was honored as a top family law attorney in all of California by the highly respected Daily Journal in its February 16, 2022 special coverage issue.
Board Certified Family Law Specialist
The State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, has certified Mr. Palyan as a Certified Family Law Specialist. The State Bar certifies attorneys as specialists who have gone beyond the standard licensing requirements. The State Bar Legal Specialization program was intended to provide a method for attorneys to earn the designation of certified specialist in particular areas of law, increasing public protection and encouraging attorney competence. The program was the first of its kind in the United States, and it has served as a model for other state programs for certifying legal specialists around the nation.
Complex Litigation Experience
Prior to founding Storm Palyan LLP, Mr. Palyan was the managing attorney at Palyan Law, APC, prior to which he spent many years as an attorney at the legendary law firm of Trope and Trope LLP. Mr. Palyan has represented clients from all backgrounds, including business owners, billionaire heirs, celebrities, professional athletes, entertainment executives, doctors, attorneys, accountants, wealth investment managers, corporate directors and executives, college professors, school teachers, police officers, and other government employees. Mr. Palyan has spoken on several television programs, and has been asked to comment about family law matters on.
Highly Coveted Judicial Experience
Prior to joining the private practice, Mr. Palyan served as a judicial law clerk/research attorney for family law judges, including two family law judges who went on to become supervising judges of the entire family law division in Los Angeles, and also in writs and receiverships and general unlimited civil departments. Mr. Palyan also held several coveted judicial externships, including one with the Ninth Circuit United States Court of Appeals. As a research attorney, Mr. Palyan provided legal research, analysis, and a recommendation to family law judges hearing motions, Requests for Orders, and Orders to Show Cause. While working for the Court, Mr. Palyan advised and assisted judicial officers on hundreds of family law proceedings. He was assigned to one of the largest divorces cases in the history of the state of California.
Academia and Publications
In 2013, just four years after graduating law school cum laude in the top ten percent of his class, Mr. Palyan was invited to teach as an adjunct professor at Southwestern Law School. He currently teaches Family Law Practice and Procedure, and has previously taught the International Law Journal Seminar, and Civil Pre-trial Practice. He has been published numerous times, including a Law Review article he authored on privacy that has been cited in the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) among numerous other publications. Mr. Palyan served both on law review and moot court, and earned the highest grade in several classes throughout law school.
